Motherhood can be all consuming. Be intentional about taking care of yourself too.

You could say with having four kids in four years, I lost my identity a bit. I lost my sense of self-worth and I not only forgot, but neglected to care for myself when my heart and soul was invested in others. It's taken years, countless reminders from others, more than my fair share of meltdowns and a simple note I received..."don't forget to take care of yourself, too..." that led to a major epiphany. I finally recognize the importance of self-care, self-love and to value my over all well-being. I struggled with the idea that it was selfish to invest time and energy toward my own needs, my own desires and hobbies. I was "Mama." The most important and cherished title I'll ever hold, but I was lost in the title and let my own self identity slip away. As I'm slowly getting accustomed to my new sense of self and making ME a priority, I've come to realize some pretty important things…

-Let go of the small stuff. -Make time for yourself. -It's O.K. to say "No."

    And most importantly…

    -ASK FOR HELP!

I wanted to be super mom. Get it all done and get it done alone. With that mentality, I was suffering and my children were burdened by my frequent frustration due to burnout and my self neglect. I failed to fill my own cup, eventually pouring from an empty one. Motherhood is incredibly consuming yet so incredibly rewarding. We have to remember to take care of ourselves, fill our own cups first so we can eventually overflow onto others. Take care of YOU. You matter too.
